  • Measles Fact Sheet
Due to the growing concern regarding the measles outbreak, the Effingham County Board of Education wishes too reassure our parents, staff, and community by providing the following information as well as the Georgia Department of Health's Measles Fact Sheet.

    1. No cases of measles have been reported in Georgia so far

    2. Measles is preventable! Check with your doctor or our health department to make sure your vaccines are up to date. If you have not been immunized, get one now!

    3. In the event an infectious communicable disease, such as measles, presents in our schools, we have procedures in place to protect our students. We will work directly with our public health department on necessary actions. Students who have not been immunized will be excluded from school. Medically immuno-compromised students will also be excluded. This action helps protect these students, as well as, helps prevent them from spreading the disease to others should they become infected.

  • Enterovirus D68 Key Points and Resources
Every year, enteroviruses and rhinoviruses cause millions of respiratory illnesses in children. This year, EV-D68 has been the most common type of enterovirus identified, leading to increases in illnesses among children and affecting those with asthma most severely. CDC expects, as with other enteroviruses, that EV-D68 infections will likely begin to decline by late fall.

Parents should review our virus resources page for more detailed information.
